INDO RUMAH

We import quality lifestyle furniture and furnishings direct from Indonesia

Our Story

Indo Furniture began in 1996 after a surf trip to Indonesia opened my eyes to the incredible craftsmanship of handmade, solid wood furniture. I was already restoring antiques back home, but something about the skill and spirit I saw over there stayed with me.

After a rough first attempt at importing, I gave it one more shot—and that second container changed everything. The quality was amazing, and so was the connection I began building with the makers.

Since then, I’ve been working with the same family-run factory in Central Java for nearly 30 years. They’ve become like family. I’ve watched their kids grow up, shared meals in their home, and built a business grounded in trust, respect, and shared values.

At Indo Furniture, we create timeless indoor and outdoor pieces from sustainably sourced teak and other natural materials, all made in Indonesia by skilled artisans. We work closely with a network of local factories who still use traditional techniques, and we’re proud to support their craft. Every piece we offer has a story—and we’d love to share it with you. Come visit us in Mangawhai and see the collection for yourself.

About Teak

Sustainable. Durable. Ethical.
Indonesian Legal Wood Logo

Teak furniture has become something of a status symbol due to its relative rarity and durability in extreme weather conditions. But not all teak is created equal. Our furniture is made from Indonesian Legal Wood Certified teak, ensuring that every piece is not only high-performance but also ethically and sustainably sourced.

Sourced under Indonesia’s SVLK (Timber Legality Verification System), our teak is traceable, responsibly managed, and fully compliant with national and international forestry regulations.

With a naturally high oil content, tight grain, and high tensile strength, teak is uniquely suited for outdoor use.

  • Highly resistant to rot, fungus, mildew, and termites

  • Virtually impervious to water

  • High density of 720 kg/m³

  • Performs on par with old-growth teak

  • In erosion rate, dimensional stability, warping and surface checking

Teak’s durability translates into a long service life, making it an eco-conscious choice. It can be left unfinished to age naturally, or painted or stained to match your style. Whether used for furniture, boat decks, or carvings, it performs reliably in any climate — year-round.

Choosing Indonesian Legal Wood Certified teak means investing in top-tier quality without compromising the environment. It supports responsible forestry, reduces pressure on old-growth forests, and promotes fair labor practices.
